No, you cannot take the ABC Alcohol Server Certification Exam without first completing an RBS training course. The full process must be completed accurately in order to obtain an RBS certification.

1. Register in the RBS Portal

• Create an Account: Before you can start your RBS training, you need to register in the California RBS Portal. Here’s where you will manage your certification process and access your training and exam information.

2. Complete RBS Training

• Authorized Training Providers: You must complete training from an authorized RBS training provider. These providers offer courses that cover the necessary material for responsible beverage service. You can find a list of approved training providers on the ABC website, we’re one too! Enroll today.
• Training Details: The RBS training program includes a variety of topics crucial for effective alcohol service, such as checking IDs, handling intoxicated customers, and understanding local alcohol laws.

3. Pass the Exam

• Exam Timing: After completing your training, you must pass the ABC Alcohol Server Certification Exam within 30 days of your confirmed training. This exam, which allows you three attempts to pass, tests your knowledge gained from the training course and verifies that you meet the certification standards.
